I Am Home

I see things sometimes

common things

natural things

Like two ladybugs mating

And a spider weaving its web

Other times I can feel things coming

Like a deer

a fox

or a snake

I hear an ocean of birdsong

and the leaves clapping

as the Wind makes her entrance

I smell

and I can tell

the difference

between the new growth

and the decomposing

I touch things sometimes

Like the soft flesh of a mushroom

And the wet green moss at the base

of a barky tree

And when I do

When I see, feel, hear, smell, and touch

I taste the sweet bliss of my aliveness

And I know that I am home
