Earth Church

Earth Church is a community of Gaians in Birmingham, Alabama, who meet one Sunday a month at a local outdoor venue, weather permitting to commune with Earth as a spiritual practice. We come together and practice mindfulness in Nature as well as fellowship as we walk the path of presence together, during this time on Earth.

Earth Church has given me a sense of community I’ve been looking for my whole life. It’s a group of people that are unbelievably authentic, accepting, real, loving and kind. I look forward to it every time. The cacao circles have given me a deep respect for cacao and others. We hold space for each other in such a loving way. It’s rare in this day and age to be able to slow all the way down with others and be fully present and listen with an open heart. It’s a rare and beautiful experience that I cherish deeply.

Earth Church is full of kind and loving people that feel like home. The natural elements involved are a solid reminder and invitation to connect into our belonging on this Earth and to each other. I felt seen, heard and cared for!

Earth church is great! Meeting once a month outside with unique people who have interesting things to share. Jasper does a fantastic job setting the tone. Her meditations always get me into the zone, and I love the way she includes a little movement. Shannon plays this fascinating instrument and it’s nice to sing tributes to our planet with the group. I started out showing up now and then, but now I never miss it!

Nature Reconnection

The yoga portion is a combination of intuitive movement, gentle yoga postures, walking or guided meditation, and breathing exercises. We spend time listening to the trees, walking barefoot and communing with local flora and fauna.

Education

We may also include play time in nature, journaling, singing songs of healing, storytelling, dance, Ecotherapy practices, and anything else that inspires connection with the Earth. Each gathering is different and unique and inspired by the Seasons.

Activism

Together, we are exploring the ways that we can care for Earth as we connect to Her. The proceeds for each Earth Church benefit a local non-profit organization committed to the care of local forests and waters.

Gatherings are facilitated by Jasper MoonTree and Shannon Andrews Skipper, as well as guest leaders from the Earth Church community. Location and time are announced the week prior to the first Sunday of each month in our online Facebook community or in advance here.

This is a donation-based event with partial proceeds
to benefit the Cahaba River Society.

Everyone is welcome at Earth Church. There are no labels that can divide us in this co-created space. We belong to the Earth and we are responsible for her care. Let us come together to celebrate our connection to Gaia and inspire each other to be stewards of Mother Earth.

Humanity is experiencing a Great Turning and a shift in consciousness toward the recognition of our unity through interdependence and interconnection with all Life forms. Beyond our differing belief systems, the Earth is our one true commonality. By spending time with her, we awaken our innate wisdom as humans.

Our Mission

To love her, to protect her, and to connect with her.
